Our Philosophy
When a person experiences summer in the OES community, whether kid or adult, they leave our programming and walk into the next school year more confident in their skills socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually— ready to thrive. Summer at OES works to provide equitable access to families in the Portland Metro community for inquiry and play-based summer enrichment programming that cultivates a sense of adventure and the building of a rich, creative community on and off the Oregon Episcopal School campus. We facilitate space for our student campers to capture joy and freedom as they take on healthy risks, make new friends, and explore who they are as valued individuals.
Our Core Values
- Fun: We work to cultivate each other’s curiosity and encourage healthy risks through joyful play and fun.
- Respect: We nurture our mental, emotional, and social well-being through healthy respectful relationships and dialogue with each other.
- Wonder: We expand our compassion for others and the natural world through engagement with a broad intersection of peers, community engagement, and project-based inquiry camp classes and experiences.
We are proud that we are able to open our Summer at OES Program to the public as well as offer financial assistance to many of our campers. Our offerings are an extension of both our school’s quality of Experiential Education, Mission, and Commitment to Justice. These commitments are key to the foundation of our programming and we welcome every student camper and their family to come to our campus and experience Summer at OES.
