Chinese Language Students Celebrate the Lunar New Year In Person

This past week Upper School Chinese language students had the chance to meet on campus in-person to celebrate the Lunar New Year together. Students practiced the art of 剪纸 (jiǎnzhǐ) papercutting, creating the character for "spring" 春 (chūn), and also the art of 书法 (shūfǎ) calligraphy, practicing the single character 福 (fú) "good luck" and the four character saying 金牛迎春 (jīn niú yíng chūn) "the golden ox welcomes spring." For some students it was the first time they have been to campus for the 2020-2021 school year, and the room was filled with Chinese music, excitement for the new year and the joy of coming together in person. The OES Chinese program wishes you 春节快乐 (chūn jié kuài lè) Happy Spring Festival!
