The annual Oregon Girls Sports Leadership Summit (OGSLS), founded by our own Missy Smith, is excited to announce its return for the seventh year in a row. The OGSLS was designed to give female student-athletes with an interest in leadership the same emphasis on instruction, encouragement, and practice that we give athletes before asking them to compete. Asking student-athletes to be leaders without preparing them for the responsibility is unfair. Often, much is expected of our leaders but seldom do we intentionally teach them the necessary skills in order for them to succeed.

This amazing opportunity is recommended for all female student-athletes in grades 8–12 and is sure to be an exciting, jam-packed event! Over the course of the day, we will celebrate the history of Title IX, hear from a Professional/Division 1 athlete panel, enjoy a keynote motivational speaker, and collaborate in break-out sessions that will include hot-button topics like... Defining my leadership styleWhat are my values as a leader? and Where will sports help take me in my future?  Students will “Explore” what it takes to be a leader, “Connect” with their peers, “Commit” to leadership, and “Create” their own leadership style.

If your group is in need of transportation, please reach out to smithm@oes.edu. The Oregon Army National Guard has offered to make sure you can be in attendance.

Frequently asked questions: Do we need to bring our lunch? No lunch is included.  Are male coaches that coach girls' teams invited? Yes.  Do Coaches need to register?  Yes.
