Dear Families,
I am thrilled that we are able to gather in the OES Chapel for our weekly chapel, Tuesdays from 8:10-8:40am. We began this past Tuesday with a simple chapel that included two songs and I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to hear so many voices singing together in the same space! Many of us are new to chapel, so it is also wonderful to be together in this new year, all of us starting afresh.
For the first time since 2019-2020, Lower School students in Primary through 4th grade have the opportunity to serve as acolytes for at least one chapel. Students from all backgrounds and traditions are welcome to serve as acolytes—and no prior chapel experience is necessary! (Most of us will be doing this for the first time!) What is an acolyte? Acolytes lead the procession into and out of Chapel and sit up front. Most children enjoy this voluntary experience in chapel leadership, but you or they can opt out, of course. You will hear from your child's teacher about specific dates when their class's turn is approaching. We'll start with 4th grade classes and finish the rotation with Primary students at the end of the year.
Family members are always welcome at Chapel and often like to photograph their children on “their” acolyte day. Guest seating is in the back row for those who would like to stay for Chapel. Please contact me at any time with questions! Welcome to this new year, filled with new opportunities.
Warmly,
Chaplain Jenny
