By Kristen Haferbecker, All-School Community Engagement Coordinator
This week in the Lower School Chapel, all the Doorstep Donations collected by the Lower School were brought in to be blessed before being distributed to our neighbors. In this first round of the school year, students collected more than 1,900 lbs. of food, which will provide over 1,500 meals for our neighbors. (Feeding America estimates about 1.2 lbs. per meal.)
We will pause our Doorstep Donations until the end of January to leave space for our school-wide Season of Light, a season where we connect with some of our partner organizations in the community to provide gifts and essential items to those they serve.
In the Lower School, students and families honor the Season of Light through the Circle of Love Chapel, which will be held on December 13. In Middle and Upper School, students and families honor the season of light with an essential items collection for William Temple House. Look for divisional communication about these opportunities to reach out to our neighbors in this season.
