Prepping for the Vark Tank

Prepping for the Vark Tank

Seventh grade students have started developing their inventions and innovations for the 4th Annual OES Vark Tank, coming up February 9 and 10.

“The students have been tasked with learning about climate change in science class by creating an invention or innovation that addresses the question: ‘How can you create a product that will mitigate or help adapt to climate change?,’” said Middle School Science Teacher Tara Verenna.  “This inquiry project is intended to create a need to understand climate change science and engineering design while inspiring creativity and innovation.”

The students create three iterations of their product: a paper prototype, a cardboard prototype, and a final “polished” prototype, which is made using materials found mostly in EC3 Design Center, the science classroom, or from recycling bins.
