OES was proud to host the 5th annual Oregon Girls Sports Leadership Summit on Saturday, May 7. Founded by OES Associate Athletic Director Melissa Smith, the summit is designed to inspire and educate female student-athletes in grades 9-12, both on and off the field.
More than 300 enthusiastic attendees from 30 local high schools attended the event. Keynote speaker Edniesha “Eddie” Curry, assistant coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, shared words of wisdom and encouragement with the young women. A pro/college athlete panel, hosted by OES alumna Nevi Bailly ’21, offered lots of motivation. Speakers included Kailee Johnson, Stanford graduate, volleyball and basketball player; Ashley Corral, USC graduate, retired WNBA player; and Cally Togiai, current University of Portland soccer player.
In breakout sessions, the students explored their leadership style and their values as a leader while connecting with peers. Thank you to our event sponsor, adidas.
