OES Students Win State Title at High School Chess Tournament
The Oregon High School Chess Team Association (OHSCTA) hosts an annual statewide tournament to determine the top high school chess teams in the state. In late February, OES won the team state championship for smaller schools (4A and smaller), and finished third overall, behind Westview and South Eugene.
This is the first year that OES competed at the varsity level, after having won two state titles at the JV level (when the OES team had members still in middle school).
