While studying the colonization of the North American continent and the build up to the Revolutionary War, fifth graders recently explored African, Indigenous, and European civilizations. The purpose of this artifact study was to introduce students to these civilizations prior to colonization and enslavement, as well as to combat the myth that Europeans were "more technologically advanced."
In addition to the models they created in the EC3 Design Center, fifth graders wrote research papers to expand on their learning. The entire project will culminate in an Innovations and Technology Museum later this month. Parents will also be able to experience what the students learned through a digital version of the museum at the completion of their project.
