Head of Lower School David Lowell promoted fifth graders to sixth graders at a ceremony on June 12.
Among his remarks, Lowell said:
“Congratulations, fifth graders, on completing Lower School and arriving at that amazing midpoint of your learning journey, halfway between pre-K and 12th grade. During your time in Lower School, you have encountered many things, [including] the wonder and joy, challenges and frustrations, accomplishments and achievements of learning together in community. You've explored new subjects and been challenged by new concepts. You've realized the power of asking why and who and what, and how, where, and when; the power of not yet. And you've learned what it takes to be a builder of community, to be a change maker and a steward, an advocate. And this year you've leaned in to learning what it takes to become a leader. You know better the opportunities and responsibilities that come from leading ideas and people and actions. So now I wonder just what sort of community member change, maker, steward, advocate, and leader you want to be?”
“May you discover what you love and what you want to dedicate your life to fiercely and faithfully, fifth graders. Thank you for the responsibilities you've taken on in the Lower School, for the differences you made, and for the efforts you have made to help us all thrive.”
Your division head’s office will share a link to all photos captured at this ceremony in an email to families later this month.
Enjoy and have a wonderful summer!
