The Class of 2023 unveiled their theme during this year’s Senior Entrance with a rousing retrospective of their past three years at OES. From athletics, extracurricular activities, and competitions to Winterim and the prom, the students reminded everyone to Seize the Moment—formatted as “Sei23 the Moment”—and to not let anything pass you by.
Ruth K. ’23, who led the senior theme committee, shared that when her class was deciding what their theme should be, they wanted to show how much they value the time they spend together, when much of their high school experience has been spent apart because of the pandemic.
“To me, seizing the moment means taking nothing for granted and living every day in the present. It's hard to do so when, as a senior, my mind is on college, tests, and graduation, but it's important to take a moment to breathe. Nothing is ever guaranteed, so be free. Go get that coffee with your friends, visit your teachers during office hours, and, as Logan C. ’23 demonstrated in our Senior Entrance, ask that person to prom! Seizing the Moment may look different for each of us, but it's important that it just gets done. Now go Seize!”
