Boys Golf Team Wins State for Third Consecutive Year

Congratulations to the Boys Golf Team, who captured the 3A/2A/1A state title this week!

Coach Missy Smith said, “This is our third state championship in a row, with a gap in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid.”

“The boys held a 5-stroke lead going into day two and won by a 6-stroke differential over the two days,” Smith said. “This was a very tight stroke differential, and our 4 and 5 guys came through with low scores when we needed them most. Knute G. ’23 and Sean M. ’23 were the 4/5 guys.”

  • Alex T. ’24 finished 2nd overall in the state
  • Benjamin T. ’24 finished 6th overall in the state
  • Matthew C. ’23 finished 9th overall in the state

The tournament was held at Tokatee Golf Course. The team had an hour and a half lightning delay with 4 holes to play, and then they came out firing from the delay to finish things off.

"This was a very special weekend with a great group of young men. They had to dig very deep for this one. I am extremely proud of how hard they fought,” said Smith.
