Run, Don't Walk to Catch "Departures and Arrivals"

Departures and Arrivals, the fall production by the OES Visual, Performing and Musical Arts Department, is running now at OES and you don't want to miss it! Check out a sneak peek of the show here. Seats are still available for Friday and Saturday night: make your reservation here.

By turns wildly funny and extremely touching, this performance is sure to keep you entertained. Hear from the play's director, Drama Teacher Lauren Cuellar:

"When deciding on Departures and Arrivals by Carol Shields for the fall show, I wanted to choose a piece with a diverse set of characters, flexible casting, and something the audience could connect with. Through a series of vignettes taking place in an airport in the late 1990s, Departures and Arrivals highlights the chaos and range of emotions one may experience when traveling. We have chosen to place our show in the PDX Airport, and you may notice a familiar flooring. Being set in the 1990s has also allowed us to have fun with the musical selection to add mood between scenes. It has been a delight to see the way the OES students have interpreted their parts. Developing creative backstories for their characters has added their own nuances to the show.

Being new to OES this year, it has been an honor to work with such a wonderful and welcoming group of students and teammates. The energy and enthusiasm that everyone has infused throughout rehearsals and performances has been such a joy to experience."

Thank you to everyone who comes out to support our talented OES students. We hope you enjoy the show!
