Middle School Opportunities

MS Grade Rep - 6th to 8th

Grade Level Reps help identify key topics and issues affecting MS families, serve as ambassadors for our families, serve as a liaison between the parents and administration, and facilitate communications as needed with their cohort of families.  It is essential that GLRs commit to attending monthly ASPP Leadership Team, GLR team, and MSPP Parent (topical) meetings. GLRs may be asked to facilitate one or more grade level social events for parents and families annually.  The 8th grade rep typically serves as the Grade Rep team lead.

As a committee, plan 1-3 parent-only social events to occur throughout the school year. Committee members also support efforts to create & maintain the all-school resource directory for parent socials. Recruits and assist hosts with event planning and logistics as needed.

Works closely with the All School Volunteer Chair, the MS Grade Reps, the Community Engagement program, and the Socials & Hospitality committee on volunteer recruitment for parent volunteer opportunities. The Coordinator manages SignUp.com for MS, including all outreach, training and system management.

Using SignUp.com, organize parents volunteers signing up to provide snacks for MS Conference and other teacher in-service days. Coordinates with GLRs and MS Administration on parent communications, and MS Office for delivery/receipt of snacks.

Functioning as a committee or solo, MS Family Summer Socials hosts plan one or more low-key, summer family and/or parent gatherings over the summer. Summer event hosts need only book an outdoor venue (park, food cart pod, campus space, etc…), send an invite to your full cohort (OES will assist with this), and show up to welcome families to these BYO events. The purpose is just to meet and greet, and gather before the school year.

With a team of volunteers, coordinates & plans the end of year 8th Grade Promotion Celebration. Works closely with MS Head, 8th grade parents, and teachers to create this capstone celebration.. Lead committee in all planning, logistics, theme, food, entertainment, decorations (setup/cleanup), and slideshow generation.

Plan and host the end of year 8th Grade Promotion Celebration. Event occurs in conjunction with the end-of-year MS Closing Ceremonies. Committee work includes planning meetings leading up to the event focusing on logistics, theme development, food, entertainment, decorations, setup/cleanup, and creation of all-cohort slideshow.
