Aardvark Alumna Hits a Volleyball Milestone
OES alumni frequently make headlines after they've left our hallways, and the latest example came earlier this week when we heard that Lucy Stevens '14 achieved an impressive athletic milestone.
Lucy, a senior at Carleton College in Minnesota, had her 1,000th college volleyball career kill while playing in two matches on Saturday, September 2. (A "kill" in volleyball is a successful, legal, point-scoring play.) This makes her only the fourth player in Carleton volleyball history to reach the 1,000-kill mark, and the first to do so since 1992.
She had 29 total kills in the matches against the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and Valley City State University.
Well done to Lucy from the entire Aardvark community!

Last Friday and Saturday, the OES Middle School hosted the annual Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) Student Leadership and Diversity Retreat.
This week at OES we paid homage to two very different yet linked holidays: Mardi Gras and Ash Wednesday.
OES continues to celebrate Black History Month. In a seventh grade English class, students are currently reading and discussing Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, the abolitionist's memoir.
On Wednesday night, people from many different parts of the OES community joined our Boarding families for a dual celebration: honoring both the Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day.
