March 8, 2019 Eighth Graders to Dive Deep into Self-Chosen Projects Over the entirety of this school year, eighth-grade classes have partnered with the EC3 Design Center to develop inquiry-based projects of their own choosing. This week, the eighth-graders prepared for "Deep Dive Days," a two-week long stretch when they get to focus solely on their Project X projects. OES Comes Together for Third Annual Humble Lunch On Wednesday, OES participated in our third annual Humble Lunch to raise money for the Neighborhood House to purchase food for families in Southwest Portland. Upper School Students Connect at Diversity Retreat Last week, a group of eight Upper School students participated in the NWAIS (Northwest Association of Independent Schools) Student Diversity Leadership Retreat. The retreat offers students an opportunity to connect and build both relationships and skills around communication and inclusiveness. Lower and Middle Schoolers Celebrate Mardis Gras OES schools came together this week in celebration and learning about Mardis Gras. Middle School students visited the Lower School to share some of their favorite traditions about this special day. Lower Schoolers in Extension took a field trip to the World of Speed Motorsports Museum last week.They spent the day learning about racing, what makes a vehicle aerodynamic, and even made their own cars!
