Oct. 19, 2018 Upper School Activities and Clubs are Ever Evolving OES has a vast program of extracurricular activities as well as student-run and created clubs in the Upper School. They run on a trimester system so that every few months, there are opportunities for students to elect and register for something different. Over four years of high school, students must complete six Activity credits for graduation. Middle Schoolers Give Back with Fall Service Learning Day This Wednesday kicked off the first half-day of service for the 2018–19 school year. All 209 middle schoolers and teachers had the opportunity to visit nonprofits and charity organizations around Portland to volunteer. Second Graders Explore the History of the OES Wetlands Second graders have spent this week diving into their study of the wetlands near the OES campus; in particular, their examination highlighted the history of the school's conservation efforts for this rich and diverse ecosystem. They will spend Friday exploring the wetlands via canoes and making observational sketches. Faculty & Staff Gain New Skills at Leadership + Design Workshop OES faculty and staff engage in regular professional growth and development opportunities designed to solve real problems. The OES Chapel was stuffed with stuffies at Lower School Chapel. Chaplain Phillip Craig led the annual "Blessing of the Stuffies," to remember and honor St. Francis of Assisi (the patron saint of animals).
