Highly acclaimed Young Adult fiction author Andrew Smith will be visiting several of the B block English classes on Wednesday, September 26 as part of his book tour organized by Powell's Books.
Middle Schoolers Leave No Trace and Prepare for Adventures

Middle schoolers continued their school trip preparations all this week. Eighth graders started their pre-trip work for their Relationship Retreat, meeting with a doctor to ask questions that are on their minds.
First Graders Hunt for Creatures in Their Natural Habitats

Last week, the first grade classes enjoyed an annual OES rite of passage—the Habitat Hunt! This fun, outdoor event was originated to help first graders begin scientific inquiry around animal habitats.
The New Parent University - Coming to OES Oct. 10

Parent University is a new experimental program OES is launching this year to give parents the opportunity to learn about and discuss issues that are central to raising healthy children. Learnings will be organized around a central theme, and this year's theme is the "Healthy Mind Platter," which is a concept developed by pediatric and adult health expert Dr. Dan Siegel.
2018-19 All-School Handbook Now Available

The 2018-19 All-School Handbook, including Division and Residential Life sections, is now available on the school website. The Handbook was updated substantially over the summer, so please take the time to familiarize yourself with it and to refer to it as necessary throughout the year.

Join current OES families, alumni, employees, and Aardy (of course!) on Friday, October 5 to cheer on the Girls' and Boys' Varsity Soccer teams and JV & Varsity Volleyball teams as they take on Catlin Gabel. Enjoy a meal courtesy of OES or purchase food from Portland's Best Food Carts. Then come back Sunday, Oct. 7 to play in the Aardvark Open!
