Alumni Return For a College Chat

"Saying yes, and opening up to different experiences."

These were just two pieces of advice shared by Nathan Faust '15 and four other alumni on Wednesday as part of a special class meeting for juniors and seniors. The panel of OES graduates provided current students with the opportunity to ask questions about college and garner perspectives on the collegiate experience. Topics addressed included the process of choosing a school, staying active on campus, and the benefits of smaller versus larger schools.

From finding a favorite eatery (such as Colette Au's ramen place of choice in Little Tokyo) to getting involved in sports clubs and making sure to reach out when in need of help, the alums gave excellent suggestions to help the classes of '17 and '18 prepare themselves for the next step into a broader world. And when asked about how to stay in touch with OES friends, the sage answer was "You find your true friends from high school in college. If there's a mutual desire to stay in touch, you will."

Thank you to Paula Sutton, OES Director of College Counseling, for bringing these voices back to campus!
