Actress Megan Cole is known to most of the world as a talented performer who has appeared on Seinfeld, ER, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, amongst many other TV and stage appearances. But to Art Ward, OES English educator and incredible supporter of our theater program, she was Liz Cole--Art's first acting teacher in college at Tufts University.

Recently Art heard about a project Megan is working on in this current phase of her career: a one-woman dramatized lecture based on Margaret Edson's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Wit. Wit itself tackles important end-of-life issues, such as the way in which terminally ill patients are treated. By comparison, "The Wisdom of ''Wit'," explains Megan's website, "is intended for educational pruposes in medical schools, healthcare facilities, and all organizations whose goal is the care and well being of patients and those who love them."

With the help of several other OES employees, Art arranged for Megan to speak during a recent Upper School chapel. She talked about the spiritual nature of serving others, shared how some healthcare organizations have been resistant to change their ways, and challenged all who were present to consider how best to tackle the obstacles in life.

Megan's visit deeply moved students and educators alike, and was part of a special ongoing visiting artist series at OES.
