At its September meeting, the OES Board of Trustees unanimously voted to name the remaining Lower School building Fariss Hall. Gertrude Houck Fariss (pictured above) came to St. Helen's Hall in 1932 and served as its Headmistress from 1954 until her retirement in 1968. In 1964 she led the move of St. Helen's Hall from its downtown Portland location to our current campus on Nicol Road.

Fariss Hall is currently being renovated to include a student fitness center and Athletics offices, music classrooms and practice spaces, and an all-school student design and production lab.
