Musical Arts
Find your rhythm.
From the first songs students sing in Lower School to advanced ensembles and performances in Upper School, music helps students build confidence, creativity, and connection. Whether they’re singing, playing an instrument, or performing with others, students discover the joy of making music together.
Lower School
In Lower School, students build a strong musical foundation through singing, movement, instruments, and play. They develop music literacy while learning that making music is about listening, collaborating, and having fun. Students who want to explore further can continue their musical journey through private lessons and after-school extension programs, including a student rock band.

Middle School
Students begin to discover where their musical interests lead in Middle School. Sixth graders explore both band and choir before choosing a pathway that matches their passions. Students perform at school events year-round and regularly attend statewide honor groups in band, choir, and orchestra. As they grow, students develop their skills through rehearsals, performances, festivals, and special events, learning the value of commitment, teamwork, and artistic expression.
Upper School
Upper School students shape their own musical experience. They can choose to perform in advanced strings, honor choir, jazz band, or symphonic band. Students can even participate in a music production class to get real studio experience. Whether performing in large ensembles, auditioned groups, or smaller collaborative settings, students are challenged to grow as musicians while building confidence as performers and leaders.

A song for everyone.
At OES, every student has the opportunity to experience the joy of music and discover the power of creating something together. They develop confidence, resilience, and skills for collaboration and creative thinking. They discover the discipline of practice, the thrill of performance, and the friendships that grow through making music together. Throughout their journey, students perform for the school community and beyond, sharing their talents while developing skills that last a lifetime.
