Lower School Library

The Lower School Library is a vital resource for the entire OES community, housing over 16,000 titles and offering reference and research materials, a large selection of online subscription databases, as well as a collection of professional and parent resources.

Every class visits once during our six-day rotation schedule. Strong emphasis is placed on reading for pleasure and lifelong learning. Early grades enjoy author/illustrator studies and the privilege of browsing and selecting from our picture books and early reader collections. Older students learn library organization, information literacy, and research skills. The librarian partners with classroom teachers to support curriculum.

The Library is an enriching and exciting place for students, where they meet authors and illustrators, investigate inquiry-based research projects, and participate in Oregon Battle of the Books.

The Lower School Library is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for students and parents. Everyone in the OES community is encouraged to use the Library and check out books to take home.

You are encouraged to celebrate your child’s birthday or other special events by donating a book to the Lower School library. Contact the librarian for details.
