New Administrative Appointments
Scott Shlaes
OES Chief Advancement Officer
Scott comes to OES with 20 years of nonprofit and educational leadership experience. Most recently he served as Chief Development Officer at Albertina Kerr, where he helped the organization rebuild its development function with an emphasis on relationship-based, mission-aligned approaches to the work. Prior to that role, he spent 11 years with the PSU Foundation where his last role had him overseeing Institutional Partnerships for the University, which allowed him to support corporate and foundation relations, and alumni engagement around legislative advocacy. Scott established the foundation for success by developing a holistic university approach to corporate engagement by developing a dynamic strategic plan designed to focus Institutional partnerships. As an integral member of the development team, he was involved in the collective effort to support the comprehensive campaign of the university. In addition to his work in development, Scott also taught Introduction to Spiritual Leadership as an Adjunct Instructor at PSU.
Scott has roots in independent and private schools having graduated from North Shore Country Day School in the Chicagoland area. He also studied at the College of Wooster in Ohio with a BA in religious studies and returned later in life to graduate school earning a degree with honors in educational leadership and policy with an emphasis in leadership in sustainability education from Portland State University.
Head of School Michael Spencer shared, “Throughout the interview process, Scott distinguished himself with remarkable skills of deep listening and authentic engagement combined with a disciplined and strategic approach to advancement. At the university level, he played an instrumental role in collaborative partnership supporting and inspiring colleagues to achieve aspirational development goals. He will bring inspired leadership to the Advancement team as we work to bring our strategic vision to reality in support of students and the future of OES.”
We look forward to welcoming Scott to OES this summer.
