The Rt. Rev. Michael Hanley

Biography: The Rt. Rev. Michael Hanley grew up in Oklahoma and in New York City. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma, and both a MDiv and DMin from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois.

Before being elected the bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Oregon, Michael served parishes in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Minnesota. He is known as a supportive mentor to people of all ages and stages of life, with a deep spiritual center. In a recent sabbatical he completed the 500-mile walking pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella, Spain, with his daughter. In his spare time he has been a storyteller, performing for schools, churches, and other civic groups. He and his wife Marla Martin Hanley are the proud parents of two adult daughters.

Biography: Elizabeth Gewecke brings to the board her extensive experience in business management. Before coming to Oregon, she was a product manager for a number of firms in the Silicon Valley including Yahoo! and Intuit. A graduate of Stanford University, she earned an MBA from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration. She is a stay-at-home mom and has volunteered at OES with the Community Diversity Link, the OES Fund Leadership Committee, and Teacher Appreciation Planning Committee. She also has been a kindergarten PAL representative, class auction project coordinator, and room parent. Elizabeth and her husband, Thomas, have three children at OES.

Biography: Dan Bissell is an Emergency Room physician and President and CEO of Northwest Acute Care Specialists. Dan has also helped start several entrepreneurial companies in the medical device and medical informatics arenas. He is co-founder of the nonprofit Portland Street Medicine. He received a BS from Middlebury College and his MD from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dan and his wife Kim have two daughters at OES graduating ’19 and ‘22.

Biography: Nancy Bryant is a community leader and volunteer in the Portland area. She serves on the boards of the University of Portland and Providence St. Vincent Medical Foundation and has served on the boards of Jesuit High School, Portland Women’s Foundation, LifeWorks NW, and Stand for Children’s Oregon State Advisory Board. Originally hailing from Missouri, Nancy earned a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Missouri and an MBA from Eastern Michigan University. Her work experience is in the field of public relations. She and her husband Andy have three grandchildren at OES.

Biography: Robert H. Bryant became rector of St. John's in December 2002, after serving parishes in Capitola and Mill Valley, California. He earned his BA from the College of William & Mary and his MDiv from Nashatah House Seminary in Wisconsin, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1988. In the Diocese of Oregon, Robert has chaired the Commission on Liturgy & Music, as well as the Standing Committee. In 2011, he was appointed by Bishop Hanley to be Canon Theologian of the Diocese. In addition to his responsibilities at the parish and OES, Robert reaches out to the larger community by singing with the Portland Gay Men's Chorus.

Biography: Tabon Chang owns and operates Chang’s Mongolian Grill restaurants in Oregon. Born in Taiwan, he emigrated to the Portland area along with his family at the age of five. He earned his bachelor’s in marketing from Oregon State University. Tabon enjoys golfing, skiing, and spending time traveling with his family. He and his wife Soolynn have two children at OES.

Biography: Dan Drinkward is an alumnus of the OES class of 1995. After OES, he attended Santa Clara University and is currently a vice president with Hoffman Construction. Dan has remained active as a leader at OES, having served as president of the Alumni Council and as a member of the Lower School building oversight and campaign committees. He also serves on the board of directors of the Oregon Symphony Association. Dan and his wife Kathleen Drinkward have one daughter in the OES Lower School.

Biography: Paul Ehrlich is General Counsel, Global Brands & Americas, for adidas. Prior to joining adidas in 1998, Paul worked as a deputy district attorney in Multnomah County and at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP. He also teaches a course in sports law at Lewis & Clark Law School. Paul earned a BS from the University of Oregon and a JD from the University of Notre Dame Law School. Paul’s wife, Hillary Day Ehrlich, is founder and owner of Hillary Day Design. The Ehrlichs have two children at OES.

Biography: Mary Lou Green is a healthcare consulting leader. She previously served as the chief operating officer of CoverOregon, as well as in a number of healthcare process improvement and strategic planning roles, including roles at Slalom Consulting, Kaiser Permanente Northwest, Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and Ernst & Young, LLC. She earned a BS in psychology and human development from Cornell University and a MHA from the University of Minnesota. She has volunteered as third grade PAL representative and was the 2014–15 Lower School PAL chair. She is a member of the CARES Northwest development committee and the National Charity League. Mary Lou and her family are members at Trinity Cathedral. She and her husband, Trent, have two children, one of whom attends OES.

Pamela Hummelt

Biography: Pam Hummelt has a strong background in architecture, project management, and community leadership. She received a BA in urban studies from Stanford University and a MArch from the University of Oregon. She practiced architecture for many years, working on buildings in both campus and urban settings: libraries, museums, theaters, and academic facilities. Pam has served on the boards of Ainsworth Elementary School and the Racquet Club. She currently sits on the steering committee for Women of Good Samaritan and on the board of the National Charity League. She volunteers at many school events and in the community. Pam and her husband, Fritz, have two children at OES. The Hummelts attend Ascension Episcopal Parish.

Biography: Adam Kobos is a partner at Troutman Sanders LLP. He graduated from OES in 1991, and then earned a BA from Amherst, an MA from Harvard University, and a JD from Stanford University. Adam was recognized as one of Portland Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 honorees for 2013. Adam served on the OES Alumni Council from 2008–10 and on the OES Mission & Vision Committee in 2011–12. He and his wife, Betty, have two children at OES.

Biography: Brad Lawliss is the director of finance at Project^, a real estate development company in Portland. Prior to Project^, he was the director of sales for NWNGS, LLC, a subsidiary of NW Natural. He previously served as a senior financial analyst for Gerding Edlen, and as an associate director at Bear Stearns. He attended The Lawrenceville School and earned his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University. He is a trustee on the Oregon College of Art & Craft Foundation board. Brad and his wife Carrie have three children, one an OES alumna and two current students.

Biography: Nathan LeRud is the dean of Trinity Episcopal Church. He served congregations in Washington, New York, and New Jersey before coming to Trinity in 2009 as assistant to the dean, then canon for spiritual formation at Trinity in 2012. He holds a BA in English and theater from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, and an MDiv from the General Theological Seminary in New York City. Nathan has previously served on the boards of Northwest Pilot Projects and Listening Hearts Ministries as well as a number of diocesan committees. A fifth-generation Oregonian and native Portlander, Nathan and his husband, James Joiner, also an Episcopal priest, live in southeast Portland.

Biography: Malcolm McIver is president of Commerce Properties, a family-owned real estate investment company. He also has worked for Temple, Barker & Sloane Management Consulting in Boston, and for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in Tokyo. He has served as board chair for The Salvation Army in Portland. A graduate of Lincoln High School, he majored in economics at Dartmouth College and received an MBA in marketing from UCLA. He and his spouse, Rico, are the parents of one alumna '18 and one current student '19. Malcolm has been an assistant basketball coach for the OES Lower School teams.

Georgina Miltenberger

Biography: Georgina Miltenberger is co-owner of the law firm Berkey | Miltenberger LLC, where her focus is family law litigation, alternative dispute resolution, and special education law. She earned her BA from Hollins University and her JD from Penn State University. Prior to law school, she worked for a federal advisory committee to the secretary of energy and taught English to children and adults in rural Japan. Georgina and her husband, Doug, have two children at OES. She most recently served as chair of the OES Fund. She has also served as a room parent and Lower School VolunteerSpot manager, on the Auction Committee, and Steering Committee for Open Up: The Campaign for OES. The Miltenberger family are members of the Ascension Episcopal Parish.

Biography: Alicia has been an active OES volunteer for more than 15 years. In addition to serving as Parent Community Link (PCL) chair from 2013–15, Alicia's volunteer work at OES includes serving as LS PAL chair, as a PAL grade rep in all three divisions, and currently on the Governance Committee. Alicia attended the University of Oregon and Portland State University, earning a BS in Biology. She and her husband Don are the parents of two alumni and two current OES students.

Biography: Sarah (Bechen) Raymond '91 is currently a stay‑at‑home mom and consultant for the Stanford Graduate School of Business. In 2008, she served as Alumni chair for the OES Fund. More recently she sat on the Alumni Sub-Committee of the Lower School Capital Campaign. She has also volunteered numerous times as an OES Fund parent rep. She graduated from Middlebury College in 1995. Sarah and her husband Kevin have two children at OES, son ’21 and daughter ‘24.

Biography: Lucy Reynolds is a self-employed coach and facilitator who is driven by curiosity, a love of diversity, and an orientation for authenticity. Through her business, Olerai Leadership, Lucy specializes in coaching her professional clients as they lead transformational change, re-frame a situation to enable a breakthrough solution, and foster high-performing team dynamics. She has coached and facilitated across cultures and countries while living in Amsterdam, Moscow, and Tokyo. Prior to coaching, Lucy worked for 15 years in advertising and brand management for Nike, adidas, Reebok, Leo Burnett, and Wieden + Kennedy. She also served as Brand Director for Women Win, a women's development NGO. Lucy's experience includes consumer insight discovery and development of corresponding brand strategies. She has a BA in history from Denison University. She and her husband Jim have two children at OES, daughter ‘19 and son ‘22.

Biography: Chris Riser is a sixth through eighth grade humanities teacher for Portland Public Schools. He earned both his BA in history and MEd from Portland State University. He is also a graduate of the Portland Teachers Program at Portland Community College, a program designed to recruit and retain culturally competent educators. Chris previously served as the Primary PCL rep. He and his wife, Corie Murphy-Riser, are the parents of one alumna '18 and have two current OES students.

Biography: Kevin Walkush is a portfolio manager and owner at Jensen Investment Management. Prior to joining Jensen, Kevin was an equity research analyst for Morningstar. He has also held various finance and operational roles at Amazon and Weyerhaeuser. He earned his BS in chemical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and his MBA from the University of Michigan. Kevin and his wife, Jeanine Fukuda, have two children at OES.

Biography: Jess Wetsel is the president of The Wetsel Company, an investment management company in the restaurant and retail industries. Previously, he was the CEO of Lambert Gardens, a nationally acclaimed landscape architecture, design-build, and maintenance company in Dallas, Texas. He earned a BS in philosophy and an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin. Jess and his wife Andrea fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and relocated their family from Dallas to Portland in 2004. They have two daughters at OES.

Mo Copeland

Mo Copeland is head of school at Oregon Episcopal School in Portland, Oregon. Prior to joining OES in 2011, she was the Upper School head, then head of school at Saint George’s in Spokane. She also served as dean of faculty at Lakeside School in Seattle. Before becoming an administrator, Mo taught physics and math for nearly 20 years at Lakeside, Moses Brown School, and Putney School.

Mo is a national leader in independent school administration. She chaired the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) from 2007–09 and currently sits on its Accreditation Committee. She also serves on the International Council Advancing Independent School Accreditation (ICAISA), and on the boards of Reed College and High Mountain Institute. Mo earned her BA in physics from Reed College. Her two sons, products of independent school education, live in California and Idaho. She loves the outdoors, spending as much time there as possible, hiking, camping, running, and cycling.
