OES Board Inclusion Committee

The purpose of the Inclusion Committee is to ensure the School’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, is realized throughout the school. This commitment is articulated in Our Commitment to Justice.

As an Episcopal school, we recognize that learning happens in community, and building a diverse and inclusive community is essential. To that end, the Inclusion Committee oversees Our Commitment to Justice, all of our strategic initiatives, and ensures adequate resources are allocated to meet our stated goals.

The Committee reviews the School’s performance in diversity, equity, and inclusion by monitoring key performance indicators and proposing major initiatives to support those goals.

Responsibilities

The Inclusion Committee’s specific responsibilities include:

Develop, modify, and review the Inclusion Dashboard.
Develop and implement a Board education plan around the topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Review long-term plans, strategic and financial, as well as associated budgets, and institutional practices, for equity and inclusion including but not limited to enrollment and human resources.
Partner with Governance in sourcing diverse trustee candidates and planning trustee training and education.
Ensure sufficient resources of time, effort, and finances are allocated to achieve goals.
Ensure an equity and inclusion perspective is actively considered during strategic planning. Promote equity and inclusion in leadership across constituencies including the board of trustees.
Propose new initiatives to the Board of Trustees for fulfilling our strategic goals on equity and inclusion.

Operational Guidelines

Members

The Inclusion Committee shall consist of at least 8 but not more than 15 members, with a mix of both trustees, non-trustees and administrators. There shall be at least three more non-administrators than administrators. Membership will include:

Committee Chair (appointed by the President)
Director for Equity & Inclusion
Head of School
Head Chaplain
Alumnae/i
One member from the Inclusion Advisory Council
Other Trustees
Other Community Members
And such other persons as may be designated by the President

Administrative support for the Committee will come from the office of Equity & Inclusion.

The Inclusion Committee seeks members with experience in promoting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, working knowledge of Episcopal Identity, and/or Governance.
