The Volunteers’ Common Link, the all-OES volunteer coordinating committee, meets monthly. Its purpose is to oversee the volunteer program at OES and to act as the communication link for community-wide interests and activities in cooperation with the Parent Association Links (PALs), School administration, and the OES Board of Trustees.
- Support the Mission of Oregon Episcopal School as found in this handbook.
- Enhance communication and interaction among parents, faculty, administration and students.
- Plan and implement activities and events that promote a sense of community for the entire School.
- Promote volunteerism and increase parent participation. • Support fundraising at OES.
- Maintain a parent education steering committee to assist the School in offering the most appropriate continuing education and cultural programs for parents.
Continue to implement a formal structure for the management of the OES volunteer force at the community- wide level:
- Foster a sense of teamwork and common purpose
between staff and volunteers.
- Further define, clarify, and communicate plans for
volunteer recognition.
- Maintain a budget and practice sound fiscal
policies.
The VCL will plan and implement ways to increase parent involvement and community feeling at the School:
- Support and promote PAL activities in each division.
- Support and promote all school and divisional Parent Education events.
- Sponsor community forums on topics of interest and/or concern.
- Oversee and support the OES Gallery and Store, and evaluate each June.
- Conduct a year-end evaluation of the Volunteers’ Common Link’s goals, charges, and structure, and make recommendations for its future.
The membership of the Volunteers' Common Link includes the following
people:
- Chairperson of the Volunteers’ Common Link, who is an ex officio member of the Board of Trustees.
- All School Volunteer Coordinator
- Secretary of the Volunteers’ Common Link
- Treasurer of the Volunteers’ Common Link
- Chair and co-chair of Lower School Parent Association Links
- Volunteer Coordinators from Lower School and Middle School Parent Association Link
- Lower, Middle, and Upper School Grade Liaisons
- Division Heads
- Head of School
- Director of Admissions & Advancement
- Chairpersons or Coordinators of communitywide activities such as Parent Education, Friends of the OES Library, the OES Gallery and Store, Auction, and OES Annual Fund and Diversity Committee
- President of the Board of Trustees.
