Leadership Volunteer Opportunities

UPPER SCHOOL PAL GRADE REPRESENTATIVES
Serve as representatives from the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades. Chairs foster clear and open communication between parents and administration. Upper School PAL Representatives organize Upper School PAL meetings where administrative reports and Parent Ed topics are presented. Working closely with US Adminstrators, faculty and counselors PAL Charis schedule individual montly Grade Level Coffees to address the diverse interest of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade parents. Grade Representatives attend the monthly Volunteers’ Common Link meeting.

UPPER SCHOOL PAL TREASURER
Treasurer pays bills and keeps appropriate bookkeeping records. The Treasurer with other US PAL members determines the annual budge for PAL related events. The Treasurer maintains meticulous records and follows the guidelines set by the Volunteers’ Common Link Treasurer. Computer and EXCEL spreadsheet skills are helpful.

UPPER SCHOOL HOMECOMING SPIRIT WEEK LIAISON
Volunteer works with the Homecoming Chair to coordinate age appropriate activities for the Upper School during this Alumni/Community event. Homecoming is held in the Fall usually early to mid October. Volunteers work with Administration representatives to make sure all divisions are involved in the celebration. See All-School Homecoming Chair description for further information.

General Volunteer Opportunities

DISCOVERY PROGRAM MENTOR
Discovery is an apprenticeship program required for Seniors. Each Senior designs and completes a five-day, 40-hour apprenticeship with a business or organization of their choice. If you would like to Mentor a student by introducing an OES Senior to a “real world” working environment for a week, please volunteer to be a Discover Program Mentor.

LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers work under the supervision of the Upper School Librarians. Volunteers carry out a variety of tasks, including cataloging, staffing the circulation desk, shelving books and assisting students.

Special Projects and Events Volunteer Opportunities

GRADUATION PARTY COMMITTEE (JUNIOR PARENTS)
The Graduation Committee plans the Senior Graduation Party after the Commencement Evening at Trinity Episcopalian Church. This is a wonderful party for the graduating Seniors who have been together for many years. A wonderful send off for Seniors heading off into many different directions and the beginning of the next exciting phase of their lives.

GRADUATION PARTY COMMITTEE CHAIR
This person forms a committee to plan and coordinate volunteers for the Senior Party. Strong organizational skills are an asset.

GRADUATION PARTY COMMITTEE MEMBER
Committees are in charge of organizing food, decorations, volunteers, various activities and entertainment, etc.

GRADUATION PARTY COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS
Graduation Party volunteers help out with food, decorations, set-up, clean up and chaperoning.

SPORT CONCESSION VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers organize and supervise concessions sold at home Track Meets and Soccer, Basketball and Lacrosse games.

SPORT TEAM PARENT
Sports Team Parents work with the team coach and the team on a variety of small projects during the season. Various possible activities are: organize end of season parties, gifts, concessions, parent communication, snacks and other small team needs during the season.
