ADVENT SERVICE AFTERGLOW
After the Advent Service in December there is a wonderful get together (Afterglow) in the Upper School Great Hall, with a Faculty and Student Art Sale. Volunteers work with Food Services to provide refreshments for all the Advent Service participants and their families.

ANNUAL FUND
The Annual Fund is OES’s most vital and basic fundraising effort. Every year the School appeals to its entire community for unrestricted donations which are used, with other non-tuition income, to fund over 15% of the operating budget. The Annual Fund supports the mission of OES.

Annual Fund solicitation activities kick off in October and continue throughout the fiscal year, ending in June. This year there will be phonathon nights in late October and many volunteers will call their peers to help raise awareness and parent participation rates.

ANNUAL FUND COMMITTEE MEMBERS
The Annual Fund Committee is composed of recruited parent volunteers who represent the importance of parent participation in their school division and grade. They are ambassadors; empowered to educate and inspire parents about the importance of donating to the Annual Fund.

ANNUAL FUND VOLUNTEERS
In addition to recruited representatives, other annual fund volunteers assist by actively soliciting fellow parents during phonathons to be held in October and early March. Annual Fund volunteers also help in the Development office with mailings in the early fall and in the spring.

AUCTION
The OES Auction is wonderful evening in February/March that brings the entire OES community together. Funds from the Auction are primarily used to fund OES faculty educational enrichment experiences. In the past the OES Auction has also benefited the OES campus in several other ways, computer upgrades, our gloriously wonderful turf field and our much anticipated traffic and parking improvements, the loop road. This is another volunteer activity that provides lots of contact with OES parents from all divisions. Curious about a parents view of the Middle School, the Upper School, come chat while setting up for the auction.

The OES Wreath Sale Committee works closely with Teufels nursery and Iwasaki to provide OES parents and friends access to the freshest, most beautiful greenery and Poinsettias. Parents from all divisions work together on this fun and festive project. The Wreath Sale is a great service to parents, not only providing them with beautiful holiday greenery for their homes, but also offering great gifts that Teufels will mail throughout the country. RESIDENT STUDENT HOST FAMILY
The Host Family program is designed to encourage interactions between dorm and day students and their families and enhance the sense of community at OES.  As a host you might invite your student to your home for a meal or an overnight, explore the Rose City together, remember birthdays and other special occasions or attend an OES event.  We encourage host families to find a level of involvement that feels comfortable to them.  The time commitment does not need to be great, yet the rewards can be tremendous. Volunteers will be notified via email in the fall. Contact Bonnie Brennan, brennanb@oes.edu if you have questions.
