Chapel services are held once each week, and
attendance is required. Several times each year, All-School services
are also scheduled. Services are designed with the recognition
that students represent a wide variety of faiths and are not necessarily
Episcopalian or Christian. The School also realizes that adolescence
is a time of great religious questioning and doubt. As a church-related
school, OES honors equally the Anglican tradition of which it
is a part and the need for students to begin their own religious
journey.
Students are asked to treat the church, where most services
are held, with reverence, and the services with polite attention.
They are also asked to join in any choral singing and, when appropriate,
to take part as acolytes, readers, musicians, actors, and even
preachers. Suggestions are welcome and should be passed on to
the chaplain.
