Upper School Academics
We offer traditional and unique courses in the Upper School. The science program is designed to provide acceleration, inspiration and enrichment for interested, talented, and motivated students and includes a strong research component. History courses prepare students for lifelong learning and engaged citizenship, while teaching students to think like historians, learning to interpret historical events and write and critique analyses of the past. Though not required, it is common to find OES students taking fourth- and fifth-year foreign language courses and doing college-level work in various disciplines, as well as taking classes in the visual and performing arts.
Afternoon sports, music rehearsals, performances and special workshops allow students and teachers to grow and learn together. The daily schedule also provides time for student/teacher conferences, special help sessions, large community gatherings, or just casual conversations.
