Who is considered an international applicant?

Applicants who meet one of the following criteria should apply as an International applicant: (1) The student will require an I-20 to study at OES. (2) The student’s primary residence is outside of the United States. Children of US citizens employed outside of the USA are not considered international applicants.

Do you enroll students mid-year (i.e. spring semester)?

The OES school year begins in early September and continues through mid-June. We do not admit international students mid-year.

Does OES issue I-20’s for students to apply for a visa?

YES. OES is authorized to issue an I-20 and enroll students with an F-1 visa.

Does OES provide English Language Support?

YES. We have English Language Support (ELS) for international students entering 9th and 10th grade. Students must be proficient in English to be admitted in 11th and 12th grade.

How many boarding students do you have and where are they from?

The Upper School enrolls approximately 315 students in grades 9-12 each year. Our boarding program has a capacity of 60 students, and 75% of them are international students. In recent years, our international students have come from Afghanistan, Brazil, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Kenya, Indonesia, Jamaica, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. These students bring a rich experience of culture to our school.

How do I schedule my interview if I live too far away to visit your campus?

We are always delighted to share our campus with families who are able to visit, however we understand that the distance may be too great for some. If an applicant is unable to visit our campus, we are happy to schedule a SKYPE interview. To better facilitate the interview process for our students from China, applicants who reside and attend school in China are asked to interview with Vericant (www.vericant.com/students).

Can international students apply as day students?

International students may not apply as day students.

Will you accept the TOEFL, Jr?

OES only accepts the TOEFL at this time. We are not able to accept the TOEFL, Jr.

I am an applicant from China, and I see you work with Vericant.

When is the Vericant interview deadline?

OES requires the completion of Vericant interviews by February 1. This will allow selected applicants to be invited to complete a second round interview via SKYPE by early February.

I want to visit your campus, how do I schedule a student interview?

We invite all international applicants to visit our campus and sign up for a campus tour in the Admissions Portal. In-person student interviews for applicants who currently reside China will only be scheduled if the student’s Vericant interview has been received and the applicant has been selected for a second interview.
