Congressman Visits OES Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenauer spoke to Middle and Upper School students Thursday on topics ranging from the Iraq war to immigration. He devoted about half his time to answering questions from students, and he urged them to get politically involved in an issue they feel passionate about. Will E. Model U.N. Participants Simulate World Politics Twenty OES students are attending the Model United Nations conference this weekend in Eugene with 1000 other Oregon students. |

| For the first time, Middle School students are part of the delegation. The MS students are representing Zimbabwe, and in addition to learning general information about the country and the U.N., each student has studied a particular feature, such as trade, health, politics, status of women, and disarmament. They will represent Zimbabwe on committees that deal with those areas. Twelve Upper School students will represent the nation of Algeria at the conference. Those students are Scott T. '06, Natasha D. Antigone Coming to OES Stage Upper School students will perform the Jean Anouilh version of Antigone on April 26 through 29 in the Great Hall. Tickets for the April 26 dress rehearsal are $4 for all, and tickets for the April 27-29 performances are $3 for students and $5 for adults. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. The cast includes Sarah Marshall, Alexa Schock, Anna Sassalos, Ivana Horvat, Caitlin Casimo, Deborah Coulter, Dan Lakin, Henry Behel, Stephen London, Tyler Glover, Austin Schock, Nicolas Coletto,and teacher Gabriel Edge. Chief Stage Manager is Sarah Baker, and Associate Stage Managers are Steven Morrison and Stephanie Fong. The set was designed by art teacher Jack O’Brien, original music is by music teacher Adam Steele, and the play was directed by humanities teacher Art Ward and math teacher Gabriel Edge. In the play, the conflict between a ruthless pragmatist and a moral absolutist dramatizes the personal and moral disasters that inevitably result from tyranny. |

Varsity Girls Tennis Team Rolls Over Opponents The varsity girls tennis team won the Dallas Tournament last weekend by defeating Dallas 8-0, Crescent Valley 6-2, and Hood River 7-1. All are 4A schools. They returned from the tournament to win three matches in a row, beating Wilsonville 7-1 on Monday, Tigard 8-0 on Tuesday, and Estacada 7-1 on Wednesday. Rwandan Singers Share Talents With Aardvarks Four young Rwandan men sang in Upper School chapel this week and then taught a Rwandan song to the Upper School Concert Choir. The singers call their group Hindurwa and were brought to OES with the help of Serena Morones, founder of Africa New Life Ministries, who with Jordan Elliott led a service trip in Rwanda during Winterim for six OES students.
