Dear Members of the OES Community,
The November 1st announcement from the OES Board of Trustees introducing Mo Copeland as the next Head of Oregon Episcopal School closed the formal work of the Head of School Search Committee. The next important chapter for our school begins now—that of leadership transition.
Following best practice among independent schools, the Board of Trustees has created a Leadership Transition Team to work with Mo and the Board to create and implement plans for a smooth transition over the next 12-18 months. The committee of nine includes Board President Steve Grant, Interim Head of School Kathy Layendecker, three members of the search committee and four additional members of our faculty and staff.
The Leadership Transition Team is charged as follows:
- To provide counsel and assistance to our head-elect prior to her arrival as Head of School.
- To act as a central location for community ideas and input during the transition.
- To provide consistent and timely communication with the OES community throughout the transition process.
- To plan gatherings and other opportunities for members of the OES community to meet and get to know the head-elect.
- To serve as advisors to the head-elect during her early tenure as Head of School.
As Interim Head of School through June 30, 2011, Kathy Layendecker remains in regular conversation with Mo, who will also be completing her work as Head of Saint George's School in Spokane, Washington through that same date.
Mo will be on our campus this Friday, December 17th. She will meet with the transition team and with a number of school leaders before attending St. Nick’s Chapel.
