Entire School Community Peps Up for Homecoming Festivities
Special thanks to Chaplain Phillip Craig for sharing his account of this morning's assembly.
The entire Aardvark community (including Aardy) gathered in the gym this morning for our annual Homecoming Pep Rally. The event was organized by the students of the Upper School Community Board. In their own words, they wanted the rally to be "a chance for our student body, faculty, alumni, parents, and others to come together to encourage school spirit and multi-divisional relationships." By all accounts, that is exactly what happened.
With the intrepid Peter B as Master of Ceremonies, there was plenty of celebration, song, trivia and overall good cheer. Congratulations to the Lower School students for winning the "loudest division" contest and special thanks to Head of Lower school David Lowell, Associate Head of School Peter Kraft, and Head of Upper School Asha Appel for being extra special good sports playing OES trivia games and taking one for the team by letting middle schoolers dump water on their heads.
Our Upper School Debate team has had some stellar successes lately!
Last week young adult novelist Adam Silvera spoke to our Upper School community about everything from the craft of writing to explorations of identity.
Recently Ms. Duden's fifth-grade class clambered into canoes and set off to paddle around the wetlands . . . and then encountered something entirely unexpected.
What do you get when you add 10 Middle School Math Club members, the hours of a Saturday morning, and four different rounds of mathematical competitions? That would be the OES Math Meet!
