Physical Education
Physical Education plays an important role in the OES Middle School student’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development. This is an ideal time for students to make physical activity a regular and important dimension of their lifestyle. Exposing our students to a variety of activities, while offering sequential instruction will allow students to possess the necessary skills for future participation and have a positive attitude toward physical activity. The goals of the program are:
- To learn skills necessary to perform a variety of physical activities
- To be physically fit
- To participate regularly in physical activity
- To know the implications of the benefits from involvement in physical activity
- To value physical activity and its contributions to a healthy lifestyle
Our program is designed in accordance with the National Physical Education Standards. We have adopted a skill-themed curriculum organized around specific skills or groups of skills. The focus is on student performance outcomes. The activities are the means through which our students can practice, refine, and develop competence and skills. The end result is a student who is able to use skills in a variety of contexts and situations.
