Health
The Middle School Health curriculum addresses a wide range of issues related to living a healthy, fulfilling life. Specific units are structured around the body systems and address both individual and societal concerns. Problem solving, decision-making, goal-setting, interpersonal/communication skills, and values and identity are integrated throughout the three-year curriculum.
- The sixth graders focus on the respiratory and digestive systems with an emphasis on the “gateway drugs” and nutrition. Basic babysitting skills are also taught.
- The seventh graders study the circulatory and reproductive systems. Students address healthy eating habits and stress management techniques.
- The eighth graders study the central nervous system and the muscular/skeletal system. Students focus on brain development, drugs, media literacy, and stress management.
