The Middle School Health curriculum addresses a wide range of issues related to living a healthy, fulfilling life. Specific units are structured around the body systems and address both individual and societal concerns. Problem solving, decision-making, goal-setting, interpersonal/communication skills, and values and identity are integrated throughout the three-year curriculum.
The sixth graders focus on the respiratory and digestive systems with an emphasis on the “gatway drugs” and nutrition. Basic babysitting skills are also taught.
The seventh graders study the circulatory and reproductive systems. Students address healthy eating habits and stress management techniques.
The eighth graders study the central nervous system and the muscular/skeletal system. Students focus on brain development, drugs, media literacy, and stress management.
