CHESS VISION
"Sight is what you see with your eyes, Vision is what you see with your mind." Chess Vision's goal is to provide a positive and encouraging environment for children to learn and develop as individuals. We see chess as an opportunity for students to have fun, learn and play while reinforcing important skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, concentration and patience.
Instructor Tony Hann has more than 15 years of experience coaching students of all levels from beginners to state champions. He started Chess Vision two years ago and has quickly gained a loyal following.

LEGO WE DO ROBOTICS
Join our We Do Robotics Camps, utilizing the recently released LEGO Education We Do Robotics Program that facilitates a hands-on, minds-on learning experience, redefining Robotics. Using the provided programming software, laptop computers, activity packs, construction kits, motors, and sensors, very young students can build their own robotic models and also learn computer programming skills!
Working in teams of two, young students design their own solutions by building LEGO models along with programming them to perform certain tasks. Cause and effect learning is enhanced by the models remaining tethered to a computer and, similar to scientists working in labs, students can test and adjust their programming in real time.
The We Do kit contains a motor, tilt sensor, motion sensor, LEGO bricks, gearing mechanisms, and easy-to-use software. It also includes a collection of sample projects—everything from an alligator that snaps its mouth shut when anything comes near (using the motion sensor), to an airplane that plays different sounds as you move it (using the tilt sensor).
After reflecting on what did and did not work, students consult with their peers, adapt programming, adjust models, or begin again.
Instructor Nathan Brown has a B.A. in Chemical Engineering and a M.S. in Materials Science both from the University of Washington. He currently works as a software development project manager. Nathan helps at various schools teaching beginning engineering and software development classes with Lego curriculum. He owns over 300,000 Legos.

If a student wishes NOT to continue with the spring class, please notify the ASC office by January 4. We will then place students who are on the wait lists into open slots in LEGO® Physics and Lego® Builders only.
