We strive to help each child develop a positive self-concept, to feel lovable, and competent. Throughout the year children have opportunities to:

• develop mastery in using age-appropriate materials and tools, such as writing implements, cutting tools, computers, recorders, etc.
  
• gain awareness of their own emotions and learn to accept both positive and negative emotions as a natural part of living
  
• understand the concepts of ownership and sharing
  
• value their own gender, culture, and race
  
• increase their understanding of other cultures
  
• learn to persevere and to recover from setbacks
  
• learn to evaluate themselves positively
