Since it does rain 10-12" per year, and a variety of plants grow here, it is not a true desert in the sense that one thinks of deserts like the Sahara with miles and miles of sand. Most of the time it is very dry. In the springtime there can be enough rainfall for the ground to get muddy and the plants are all green. But so little water is available that only specialized plants, such as sage brush and juniper trees, can live here. | |||||||||||||
