US AASK Gift Wrapping -- Sign-up

Job description:  Supervise and assist US student gift wrapping of US AASK Giving Tree.

Each Christmas the Upper School hangs gift tags on a giving tree.  The names are members of in-need families at our sister school Vose elementary. Students select names form the tree and buy gifts, returning them unwrapped to the tree.  Upper School students wrap these gifts during free periods over the course of a couple of day in early December.

US Graduation Party -- Sign-up

Job description: 11th grade parents.  Plan and host the post-commencement party for graduating seniors.
 
The graduation committee, which is comprised of 11th grade parents, plans the senior graduation party after the evening commencement at Trinity Episcopalian Church. This is a wonderful party for the graduating Seniors who have been together for many years. A wonderful send off for Seniors heading off into many different directions and the beginning of the next exciting phase of their lives.

US Homecoming Volunteers -- Sign-up

Job description: Volunteers assist with the school-wide homecoming celebration by helping set-up, running the parade and fun-food booths (popcorn, etc.), and cleaning-up after the afternoon/early evening festivities.

Homecoming is an annual all-school celebration including soccer games, food and fun for all.  Current families and alumni are all invited to attend.  Dinner is provided by OES food service.

US Library Volunteers -- Sign-up

Job description: Volunteers work under the supervision of the Upper School Librarians to carry out a variety of tasks, including cataloging, staffing the circulation desk, shelving books and assisting students.

US/MS Science Expo Judge – sign-up coming soon

Job description: Judge Upper and Middle School science projects at annual Aardvark Science Expo in a variety of disciplines.  Category judges for the High School Division should have an MA, MS, or a PhD (preferred) in that category or in a closely related field.

The Aardvark Science Exposition is also known as the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair OES-Affiliated Science Research Competition. It is a science, engineering, computer science and math research competition for OES students in Seventh to 12th Grades. Students with their research poster boards are interviewed by professional judges and celebrated at an evening awards ceremony.  For more information see the Aardvark Science Expo webpage.

US Service Learning Drivers -- Sign-up

Job description: Drive US students to and/or from off-campus service projects on Mt Hood Climb Service Day.  Drivers must complete an OES driving certification class (which includes a DMV check) and have an approved background check by DHS.

Volunteer requirements include DMV verification of your driving record and attending a 2 hour driving class provided by the OES Facilities Director in early fall. Certification is good for 3 years.  Driver must also have a DHS background check.

US Sports Team Parent

Job description:  Team parents are liaisons between US sports coaches and other parents of team members.

Fall sports include boys and girls soccer, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, fencing (all year)
Winter sports include boys and girls basketball, ski team
Spring sports include boys and girls track, boys and girls lacrosse, boys and girls tennis, golf

Sports Team Parents work with the team coach and the team on a variety of small projects during the season. Various possible activities include parent communication, snacks and other small team needs during the season.
