In the fall of 2001, the school announced a multi-year
capital campaign to build new buildings, renovate existing facilities,
improve traffic flow and parking, make safety improvements, and
increase the endowment. The first phase of the campaign involved
the construction of a new Math, Science and Technology Building,
which was completed in the spring of 2003. The second phase
involved the renovation of the Upper School in 2005 and constructing an addition to the Middle School, which was completed in 2007. Parents raised funds through the auction and other donations to install an artificial turf field in 2006 and to construct a loop road and parking lot behind the gym in 2007.
The school completed a campus master plan in 2006 to plan future improvements including a performing arts center, new dormitories, improvements for pedestrians, and expansion and remodeling of the gymnasium, Lower School, and Beginning School. Planning began in 2007 for a capital campaign to fund these projects, and the campaign is expected to begin sometime in 2008.
Parents of previous
generations of students gave the money to fund the resources the
students enjoy today, and today’s
parents are making sure the school is there for children 10,
20, and 30 years from now.
Current students directly benefit from these campus improvements,
and the improvements build the school’s reputation,
which will benefit alumnae/i throughout their lives. We hope that
all parents will contribute to the capital campaign to the extent
that they are able to do so. Capital gifts are larger than annual
fund gifts (usually three to five times larger). Therefore, the
school makes it possible for donors to pay off their capital campaign
pledges over a period of three to five years.
We ask parents and others for an annual fund gift even while
they are making a capital gift. The school must continue to meet
its annual operating costs even as it is making major improvements
to facilities.
