What is the Annual Fund?
In the fall, every family will be asked to make a tax-deductible gift or pledge to the Annual Fund. The Annual Fund is OES’s most vital and basic fundraising effort. As is the case with most independent schools, tuition covers about 83 percent of the cost of educating our students. The School relies on unrestricted donations and non-tuition income to fund over 17 percent of its operating budget, allowing OES to maintain the highest standards of academic and extracurricular excellence. This means talented teachers, small classes, and special resources. Faculty, staff, alumnae/i, parents of alumnae/i, grandparents, friends, foundations, and corporations also make gifts to the Annual Fund. And, of course, all contributions are 100% tax-deductible.
Annual Fund Giving Levels
A gift of any amount is appreciated! One of the ways OES recognizes our donors is through Giving Levels. Donors will find themselves listed each year in the Annual Report.
Every gift counts
Whether you give $25 or $25,000, reaching our fundraising goal requires everyone’s participation. Corporations and foundations often look to the actual number of donors – regardless of gift size – in choosing the level at which they will support OES. Your participation in the Annual Fund can spur additional gifts.
Giving to OES is easy and convenient
We accept Visa, MasterCard, checks, and gifts of stock. If you would like to make a gift now, go to our secure online giving page or contact

Gifts of stock
Many donors choose to make their gifts in the form of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or other assets that have increased in value. Gifts such as these that have been held more than 12 months are not only tax-deductible from income tax at their full market value, but you can also eliminate capital gains taxes. Making a stock gift is simple. If you would like to find out more, please contact the Development office.
Matching gifts
Many companies will match charitable gifts from current and retired employees. We encourage you to seek out your employer's matching gift program – it could double or triple the size of your gift and provide additional benefit for the school. Find out if your employer will match your donation.
