Multiculturalism & Diversity at OES


Ambassadors to Nanjing Sister School During Winterim, a group of OES students went to China and formalized a sister school relationship with the Nanjing Foreign Language School. Two teachers from Nanjing will be visiting faculty next year at OES, one for each term.


Northwest Tribes Come Together for Potlatch Fourth-graders celebrated the culture of Northwest Native Americans recently with a Potlatch in the Lower School Common Hall. They presented dramatizations of stories written by students in the style of Native American myths, which were accompanied by drumming and dancing. The event before a packed house of parents was the culmination of the students' study of the First People of the Pacific Northwest.

Sharing Cultures Upper School students experienced a taste of various cultures recently as their fellow students shared food and music and games from their native lands or from countries whose language they are studying. Places represented were Taiwan, China, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Germany, and France.
