Lunch is provided for all l students
in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th Grade. The Food Service Department
plans nutritious, well-balanced menus for the School. Meals are
served in the Lower School Common Hall for Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten,
and Primary and in the Dining Hall for First through 12th Grades.
Menus are published on this website and
in the Lower School Wednesday Express.
Lower School students with dietetic needs that cannot be handled
by the kitchen may bring their lunch from home. In such cases,
it is necessary for parents to explain in writing the circumstances
requiring the exception.
Snacks are provided for all Lower School students. These snacks
include such items as fruit, vegetable sticks and crackers. Snacks
are served to all students. Because of possible fatal allergic
reactions to peanuts, no peanuts, peanut butter, or other peanut
products will be served in the OES dining room or the Lower School.
Middle School students are encouraged to eat, but it is School
policy not to force children to clean their plates or to eat a
particular dish. Since MS students decide their own portion size,
we ask that they take what they want, but eat what they take.
Parents of children on a restricted diet are free to call the
Director of Food Service to discuss problems or particular requirements.
Middle School students may be excused from School lunches only
with written permission from a parent supported by a physician.
Students are given fruit (apples, oranges, bananas, etc.) or other
nutritious snacks each day during the morning to help maintain
their energy level and awareness for the remainder of the class
periods.
Upper School students are served nutritious meals in the Dining
Hall and also may purchase pizza in the Great Hall when it is
available.
