Signing Out a Dorm Student

The guidelines given here are our general rules. We are willing and able to make exceptions. Please contact Bonnie or Jordan to arrange special situations.

Contact Information:

  • There is a “Dorm Parent on Duty” during all non-school hours. They are the contact for any change of plans, can answer general questions and can help you coordinate picking up or dropping of a student.
    Cell phone number: 503-515-5797
  • In the case of an emergency please contact the dorm administrators:
    Bonnie Brennan cell: 971-275-0328
    Jordan Elliott cell: 503-702-0943
  • For non-emergencies:
    Bonnie Brennan Office: 503-768-3171
    Jordan Elliott Office: 503-416-9313

Schedule

Dorm students are allowed to “sign-out” with the Dorm Parent on Duty during the following times:

  • Weekdays (Monday-Thursday) 3 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.
Students on Honors Study Hall may sign-out until 9:30. Check with the Dorm Parent on Duty for details.
  • Weekends (Friday-Saturday)
Freshman and Sophomores must return to campus by 11 p.m.
Juniors and Seniors must return to campus by midnight.
All students must return to campus by 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

Overnights

If you would like to have a dorm student over to your house for an overnight during the weekends the dorm student will need to complete and submit an “Overnight Permission Form” by 6 p.m. on Friday. As the host, you will be contacted by a Dorm Parent before the overnight is approved. For weekday overnights please contact Bonnie or Jordan.

Meals

Meals are served in the cafeteria for dorm students at the following times:

Weekdays (Monday-Friday):

  • Breakfast 7 a.m. – 8 a.m.
  • Dinner 6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Weekends (Saturday-Sunday):

  • Breakfast 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
  • Lunch 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Dinner 6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

If a dorm student is signed out with you and misses a meal please be aware that they will need to be fed.

Responsibilities:

  • Dorm students are expected to follow major school rules at all times (See the US Handbook and the Boarding Handbook for details).
  • When you sign-out a dorm student you assume parental responsibility for that student. We ask that you be aware of the student’s whereabouts and supervise the student while at your house.
  • Please communicate with the student you sign-out about your expectations of their financial responsibility. Unless previous arrangements have been made, we do not expect dorm students to be charged for their time with you.
