International Program

Over the years, international students have come to OES from as far away as Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. With over half of our boarding students coming from different countries, we enter the 21st Century with a rich multicultural community. This is nothing new to OES, for we have welcomed international students to our community for nearly a century.

International students enter OES well prepared and on their way to becoming proficient in English. Bright, motivated students flourish in the challenging academics at OES and benefit from working closely with the ESL coordinator. In addition to required math, science, history, and English courses, international students may take ESL (English as a Second Language) courses to supplement their studies of both the English language and American culture. These courses, along with the support of the International Program, help bridge the distance between culture and provide individual attention to students who are far from home.

Living together as a community in the dorms, international students room with American students so that each student's boarding experience and global perspective are broadened on a daily basis. All of our boarding students profit from this unique opportunity to gain a clearer understanding of themselves and their place in the world.
