| Weekends are a time to relax, play, or participate in some of the activities one is unable to do during the busy week. A variety of activities on any given weekend range from movies and plays to hiking and camping trips to skiing and shopping in downtown Portland.
Students who wish to spend the night away from campus must comply with the following procedure.
1. Students may visit with families listed in the current OES Directory, with the permission of their dorm parents. They may also visit with other families and individuals specified by their parents or guardians and listed on the “Boarding Student Overnight Visit Permission Form.”
2. Students should have approval from their host phoned in to their dorm parent by Friday afternoon before the visit. Once the phone call has been received by the dorm parent, he or she will sign the overnight permission slip.
3. Students should turn in the signed overnight permission slip to the designated box outside the dorm office.
4. Students must meet all school-related obligations (classes, sports, work details, etc.) and be free from disciplinary actions before leaving the School for the weekend, as reported by teachers and advisor to the dorm parent.
5. Weekends begin after all final obligations on Friday and students must return to school no later than 7:15 p.m. Sunday.
6. Once students have signed out for the weekend, they may not return to campus without checking in with the dorm parent on duty.
7. OES does not support unsupervised overnight visits.
8. Students spending the night with friends or family outside of the Portland area need parent permission.
Quiet hours on the weekends are midnight until 9 a.m. Curfew on Friday and Saturday nights is 11 p.m. for 9th and 10th graders and midnight for 11th and 12th graders.
