| All outside dorm doors are locked at all times of the day and night. Main access doors are on an electronic key card system that allows them access. Students must carry their own key card to gain access. Students may not prop doors open for any reason. Doing so is compromising the safety of everyone in the building. Individual rooms can be locked by students. For safety reasons they may not lock the doors while the rooms are occupied.
OES employs a security service to patrol the school grounds on weekdays and weekends throughout the night. We want to keep and maintain a safe campus. We hope that students and staff will help keep in mind that safety and security is everyone’s job.
Dorm parents carry a master key to all rooms and reserve the right to enter any room with that key. Only in unusual circumstances would a dorm parent exercise this right, without the permission of the occupant. Dorm parents also have the right to conduct room searches at any time if there is evidence to believe that such action is necessary.
Students are required by fire regulations to limit the number of appliances or electronic equipment used at any one time. The electrical system of the buildings cannot sustain more than one or two appliances per room. Electric heaters are too taxing on our circuits, and are not allowed.
